Bayit Cham is a registered non-profit
organization offering
rehabilitation, support and guidance for
mentally ill people.
The main focus of its activities is to
rehabilitate these people
by placing them in the mainstream working
environment.
The organization was founded in 1997 by
two individuals
who have vast experience in the field
of rehabilitation -
Shmuel Munk and his partner Yoram Mordechai.
The Mental Health Law and the Rehabilitation
in the
community of People with mental llness
provide the
legal framework for the organization.
Most of the "Amuta" members
are mental health
professionals.
(Mentally ill adults-aged 18 and over
as well registered as
disabled people of the Ministry of Defense
are looked after
by the organization). Bayit Cham
is a major force in the
rehabilitation of mentally ill people.
it is the foremost
organization in their inclusion in the
workplace as well as
running sheltered workshops and prevocational
training.
We firmly believe that the mentally ill
are entitled to equal
rights in all spheres of life and that
their special needs
should be adequately provided to enable
them to live a
life of independence, privacy and respect
whilst fulfilling
their own potential.
The secret of its success is in Bayit
Cham's motto:
"To
accept every person as he is,
to understand and
empathize with his distress and to do
our utmost to help -
just like we would expect others to do
for us."
