The Bayit Cham organization was founded with
the belief that the mentally challenged
have the right to and are capable of active
and equal participation in all spheres of life
and society.
The organization strives to enable the mentally
challenged to realize their right to
vocational and ethical satisfaction and to personal
fulfillment.
The organization accompanies them on the road
to rehabilitation within the community. Achieving
maximal independence as part of rehabilitation
and integration together with answering the
individual needs of each client are a hallmark
of the organization.
Bayit Cham believes that the mentally challenged
person should be given freedom in making choices
for himself and his family but must learn to
take responsibility for his decisions. His privacy
is respected and every effort is made to preserve
his respect.
Successful vocational integration is a significant
step on the way to full social, cultural
and financial integration into the community.
This holds true for every individual but all
the more so for the mentally challenged person.
When such a person lives and works within the
mainstream community he feels he has what to
contribute and this reinforces his mental well
- being and increases his integration.
Each person has his own personal potential
based upon his values, beliefs, culture, abilities
and aspirations. At Bayit Cham we strive to
provide the tools for each person to realize
his potential. This is achieved by working in
cooperation with the patient as well as with
relevant authorities and professionals within
the community.
In 2003, the Parliament of the State of Israel
signed on "The Charter for the Rehabilitation
of the Mentally Challenged within the Community"
and Bayit Cham works in the spirit of
this charter.
